A mighty trail for the beginner.
I could start by saying this is a good place to ride your mountain bike, but I need to get off the ground by first saying, what a great day to be had here.
Part of this MTB trail is for walkers but is well identified.
First thing, if you are not that fit, beginner to intermediate, then this place will get straight to your ride. You do need to have some understanding of down hill action on a mountain bike.
It’s not for casual riders.
So 1st, The walk up to the top,,, (did i say walk) look, once you get to the bottom its a manageable gradient to the top on the big gear, it reminds you that you need to improve your fitness, but to be fair we all need that, but it’s a doddle of a walk in either case. There’s a direct route, or a less stressful route around to the left when you look up.
Second thing, this place is not massive, so your down hill trail is all over in a couple of minutes, but hold on, this isn’t an alpine mega-trail, but for two glorious minutes, it’s pure, high-speed joy on dirt.
- 🚴♂️Technical enough to keep you sharp
- 🚴♂️Fast enough to keep you smiling
- 🚴♂️Fun enough to hit it again… and again… and again
There are a couple of big jumps, so a casual ride down to identify them would be a recommendation.
It’s a dusty track with the occasional rock and on a warm day, holding off the rear brake will stop you sliding into the undergrowth.
Notes:-
This park has a car park for about 50 cars, and a number of seated areas off the car park to sit and chill.
Remember, the MTB trails take up the left of the park, the other side is for strictly walkers.
If a lot of MTB hippos turn up, then good observation skills at speed is a must.
Lastly, when you have done your 2hrs, (probably a good period to ride for) then just down the road in Coleshill is Blake’s Kitchen, here at what3words loc, ///lighters.endlessly.force
You will need to try the cinnamon bun…. they are to die for.
